Impact of the New Deal

Why was 1937 a pivotal year in the Great Depression?

Many were convinced the Great Depression had ended, New Deal programs were scaled back and as a result unemployment increased again.

“There ain’t no other nation in the world that would have sense enough to think of WPA and all the other A’s.”

“If you could get around the country as I have and seen the distress forced upon the American people, you would throw your darn NRA and AAA, and every other … A into the sea.”
